I got a Cubase LE Download Access Code from a new Zoom U-24 audio interface bought in late 2024. I already own Cubase Pro (and in fact, another LE license) so I just kept the code that came with the interface. My brother recently expressed his interest in learning to record with Cubase and I wanted to help him get started by letting him use my code. However, upon entering the code, Steinberg Download Assistant said the “Download Access Code is already consumed by another user,” which is impossible as it has stayed in the U-24’s box forever. Here’s what my brother sent to me:
I tried to find support where Steinberg tells me to go should the need arise, but there’s no button allowing me to create a ticket at all, thus this post hoping someone provides the correct email address to seek help directly. Please don’t tell me to go contact the store as the U-24 was bought online and was sealed when delivered.
I have the Download Information card and can verify ownership. My brother also has his Steinberg account set up already.
I’m in the Philippines. Please note that the Zoom U-24 with which the Cubase LE Download Access Code came was not bought from the available local distributor so I doubt they can help. It was bought from a Japan online store and was sealed when it arrived. There is no reason for the DAC not to work. I’m ready to prove my claim’s authenticity and am curious whether it indeed has been “consumed by another user” (who?), so Steinberg may look into cases like this better.
I appreciate your response, Martin. However, are they supposed to answer my query even if the product the DAC was bundled with was not bought from them?
Once you provide them the Download Access Code, they can search in the database for the MySteinberg username, and who is using it. Based on the result, they will decide, how to proceed.
