The other day I installed the Cubase Elements free 60 day trial on my laptop. Today, my Tascam Audio Interface arrived and I had not realised the Cubase EL came bundled with it. Should I uninstall all the Elements stuff before I in stall EL?
Hi @insommeniac.
I’m assuming you mean Cubase LE that came with your Audio Interface.
What I would do is, just deactivate and uninstall Cubase Elements and then install Cubase LE and activate that. Or, you could install and activate Cubase LE and still use up your trial period for Cubase Elements.
There doesn’t seem to be any need to uninstall any of the VSTi’s and VST Sounds, as they both share the same, AFAIK.
The main differences between CB Elements and CB LE, are as follows.
Audio resolution
CB Elements : 192 kHz
CB LE : 96 kHz
VST Instrument tracks
CB Elements : 24
CB LE : 8
VST audio effect plug-ins
CB Elements : 45
CB LE : 23
Physical inputs & outputs
CB Elements : 24
CB LE : 8
Audiochannel insert slots
CB Elements : 8
CB LE : 4
Group channels
CB Elements : 16
CB LE : 8
FX send and return channels
CB Elements : S:8 - R:8
CB LE : S:4 - R:4
Rack instruments
CB Elements : 16
CB LE : Not available
So the obvious drawbacks are clear to see through these comparisons.
If Cubase LE is enough for your needs, just uninstall Elements. Also, Steinberg does offer an upgrade path for Cubase LE.
Good luck.
Many thanks for your reply. I was under the impression that LE was superior to Elements but looking at your post it seems I’m wrong about that. I think I will just keep the Elements version and pay up when the free period is up, does that make sense?
Thanks for the good luck wishes, I will need them.
You are most welcome.
Cubase Elements retails for £85.00 full price, but if you upgrade from Cubase LE, you’ll get it for £42.00.
It would be advisable to (if you want) finish running your trial with Elements, then install and activate LE, and then upgrade that to Cubase Elements for ÂŁ42.00
Hope this helps.
Thank you. Have managed to record some guitar. No idea what am doing but it sounds great. Wish had his when I was young.
Not a problem.
Wish I could play Guitar, fingers are just too dang short, and the wrist feels like its gonna snap, lol.
You will eventually find your flow, and if you run into “how do I do’s”, there’s a wealth of information out there and here on the Forums to help you along.
I know the feeling, but it was my ignorance that prevented me from switching from Anologue to a DAW, and I didn’t get Cubase until Cubase 9 was out. My younger sibling tried to convert me during his use of Cubase SX 3 from 2004 to Cubase 8.5 2016, I wasn’t having any of it.
Bought an unused Cubase 8 in 2018, and on Activation it gave me a Cubase 9.5 licence. I was like woah, this is gooood. I’ve updated eversince, not because I needed to,just to keep current.
Cubase is a fantastic DAW, and I’m sure you will have tons of fun using it.
All the best.
Prim.
Thanks Prim. am at the seriously frustrated don’t know what I’m doing point at the moment. Can’t get sound on headphones, driver issue. Hopefully can work out.
