I was using Cubase Elements 13 trial then got a Tascam/Cubase Elements came (bundled I think). Now am receiving message to buy license but for Cubase 14. I wasn’t aware I would have to buy it as thought came with the DAW I bought. (I may have misunderstood that). How different is 14 than 13 as Lord knows it took me long enough to get a handle on 13. Any thoughts appreciated. Mike
Usually the version bundled with third party hardware is LE which has less features/tracks than elements.
If that’s the one you have but you want to continue using elements now your trial has ended you would need to activate LE with the code that would have been in with the Tascam and then you can either use that with the cutdown features/tracks or you can buy an upgrade from LE to Elements rather than paying full price.
Thanks again for your help Grim. Where would I find the code that came with the Tascam. I hadn’t a clue what I was doing at the time, it’s all new to me. Mike
In the box? It’s a piece of paper with instructions and a code.
What Tascam is it??
Ah thanks again, that could be fun trying to find that. I will have it but am at a different location at moment. Tascam US4x4-HR
Mike
OK…so yeah, that should come with a code for LE.
You’re probably looking for something similar to this - worth trying to find as upgrade is half the price of outright purchase (49 euro vs 99)
That rings a bell now. I will have a look for it i next couple of days when am next there. Thanks again, really appreciate your help. Mike
I’ve found a document here that might be the one. It says Cubase License Card . It has a 25 letter/Number number which is “Download access code” but not sure where to input it. I just get options to buy see attached. Mike
Input in download assistent
Thanks vinark. I guess Cubase and me just don’t get along? I’m obvs online as am on this Forum. Mike
The Download Assistent probably needs to be updated, because there was a support notice, about a change on 17th december.
OK JuergenP thank you, will get on to that tomorrow.Thank you all very much for your help.
Well I’m back on thank you. There’s a great deal of stuff to download and I doubt I even need half of it. Also ended up with Cubase 13 and 14 am still using 13. As long as it works. Do I need all this see attached
Glad to hear it works for you now.
So now regarding all the icons, it depends what license you have. If I understand it correctly you have a license for Cubase 14 Elements, is that correct?
In that case the icons for Cubase 13 and 14 are ok, both releases can live side by side. Then you have the Download Assistant, the Library Manager, the Activation Manager and the eLicenser Control Center. These are all tools that are required for various purposes.
- Download Assistant → Downloading and installing software, instruments and sounds
- Activation Manager → Activating and Managing your licenses
- Library Manager → Managing your instruments and sounds
- eLicenser Control Center → This is required if you still have products that use the old
licensing system (e.g. Cubase 11 and earlier)
All these tools are automatically installed and updated, whenever you start the Download Assistant.
Groove Agent SE and HALion Sonic are part of the Cubase license, so that is ok and needed for your instruments.
Spectralayers is probably the version that comes as part of Cubase 14, it is called SpectraLayers Go and is a limited version of the Pro version.
For WaveLab Pro 12 you definitely need a separate license, because this is a product not included in Cubase.
Thank you JuergenP yes seems ok now. I will stick with Elements13 for the moment. Thank you all for your continued support, couldn’t have got here without you all. My next questions may be about gain staging Mike
