Strange they locked this, why do they do that? This has my vote, I have spent way too many hours trying to accomplish this. I was so glad when they finally added this in Logic 8 with the marque tool, and followed Pro Tools, this made automation so much faster.

I too am having trouble to get this to work on the Mac. Guess I’ll be sticking with Fill Loop with trim enabled and moving the fader or using the pencil tool with Loop enabled to write a new level. I do like the automation handles (tilt and scale absolute center) Steinberg gave us. That is a bit slicker then Pro Tools.

So I tried to program this very micro in Cubase 6.5 and 7.06 and sadly it did not work. The Selection was getting lost somewhere in the mix and I was getting inconsistent results.
However I did program this shortcut with Quickeys where I’m automating keyboard shortcuts - and it’s working great.
Here are my steps:

• Copy
• Paste
• Locate Selection End
• Nudge +1 Frame
• Right Selection Side to Cursor
• Locators to Selection (this step is here on purpose)
• Locate Selection
• Left Selection Side to Cursor
• Copy
• Paste
• Select - In Loop

Thanks guys for initially figuring this out. This is one of the features I with was built in to Cubase, and is something that is very, very useful in ProTools. This will save me a lot of clicking!!!

I am not sure I fully understand it seems like the steps should be

• Copy

On the Mac side the nodes get selected a little different (seems like a bug), this is what I had to do and put in delays using QuicKeys.

• Paste
  delay .2 sec
• Locate Selection End
• Nudge +1 Frame
  delay .2 sec
• Right Selection Side to Cursor
• Locate Selection
• Nudge -1 Frame
• Copy
• Paste
  delay .2 sec
• Locate Next Event
• Left Selection Side to Cursor
• Locators to Selection
• Select Tool
• PLE: Select - In Loop

On the Mac this still has issues if you are zoomed out more then a couple minutes or so and run it. It no longer sees the automation nodes and messes up the selection. Probably not zoomed out that far all that often but sometimes it is needed.

Hey guys,

I just found out about this, this is effing epic!

I see multiple versions of the macro floating around, could someone make a screenshot of the latest and working version please, including the PLE script area? I am just learning about the PLE and I am a bit confused whether I need to set brackets or not.

I too would like to see a current working version, this is the biggest frustration I have left with Cubase. There are a lot of other things that would really help out if it were done better in Cubase but this compared to the ease at which I do this in Pro Tools for offline drives me crazy. I really don’t like switching tools all the time or havng to grab a fader etc to pull this off with offline automation.
