Cubase Not Finding Existing Files

Hello. I use Cubase LE AI Elements 10 on the latest MacOS. All my Cubase files for the last couple years have been on the same hard drive in the same folder. Recently, I’ve had a couple issues with my computer’s connection to my hard drive, and occasionally when the drive accidentally disconnected it would create a ghost duplicate in my Finder. Cubase has never had a problem with it before, but recently I’ve been having to manually search for and open my projects in Cubase because every time it accesses the drive, it saves the filepath as “Name Of Hard Drive ”, where x is a number that typically corresponds to how many times I’ve opened Cubase. Is there any way to fix this?

EDIT: I also noticed that this only happened after starting to use Logic Pro along with Cubase.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

I’m sorry, I don’t understand the issue here.

Could you give us an example, please?

I open cubase, the normal new/recent projects window pops up. I see a file I recently worked on, I click on it, and I get the “File not found. Do you still want to keep it in recent items?” pop up. So then, I click “Open Other”, go to the exact same filepath that was displayed on the recent projects menu, and it opens perfectly fine. Except, when I close cubase and open it again, I notice that a “1” has been added to the external dive on the filepath of the project I just had open.

Hi,

Could you attach a screenshot of the Steinberg Hub > Recent, to see the path of the given project. And other screenshot from Finder, to see the path of the working project, you open from Finder.

since I’m new it doesn’t allow me to do 2 images in one post, so see the next post for the finder filepath

Apologies for the late reply, but now you see the issue.

Hi,

I can see 3 different Hard Drives:

  • Skiny G Music
  • Skiny G Music 1
  • Skiny G Music 2

Is this expected?

No. There is only one hard drive, and it is named “Skinny G Music”, as seen in the Finder window/File Explorer.

Hi,

How come, Cubase shows the other volumes then?

That was the question…
