Cubase Pro 10.5 Record-Stop-Rewind Controller

I am using Cubase Pro 10.5 on an iMac Pro (OS Catalina).
I am trying to find or create a single continuous controller (CC #) that would permit me to …
Start Record with Press 1, and then
Stop Record And Rewind with Press 2
Any assistance would be very much appreciated

Hi,

Does the hardware sends value 0, if you press the button/pad for the 1st time and value 127 once you press it for the 2nd time, please?

You would need 2 different values to be able to control 2 different functions.

Martin.Jirdak … Thank you very much for your reply
Cubase has MACROS for many operations (Studio > Studio Setup > Select Remote Devices > Select Generic Remote > Etc.)
So I Don’t Have To Set On And Off with Individual Controller Numbers
I use the single Cubase Macro Command “Play Start-Stop”
I use the SAME Pedal for PLAY, as follows
Start Play with Press 1, and then
Stop Play with Press 2

But it is not the hardware that is the issue, it is whether there is a continuous controller in Cubase that has been programmed to do the same thing for RECORD, as was programmed for PLAY

Also, With RECORD, the convention is usually as follows
Start Record with Press 1, and then
Stop Record-Rewind with Press 2

Hi,

OK, if the hardware sends continuous data, you can use it. As I said, you need 2 different values, to distinguish, when you want trigger function A or B.

Start-Stop is quite unique, because you have one command for two functions.

Anyway, to your case… In the Generic Remote Device set Max value 64 for command A and Max value 127 for command B. Hopefully, this would work.

Thank you Martin for your informative reply.
I apologize for taking so long to get back to you.
I have tried this a few ways, but unsuccessfully.
Can you elaborate on what Generic Remote settings might work
Thanks Martin

Hi,

Sorry, for my delay.

And sorry, I was wrong. If you set Max value 64 at command A and Max value 127 at command B and you send value 32 (for example), both commands (A and B) have to be triggered. Because there is no Min value defined.

So this approach doesn’t work, sorry.

Hi Martin,

I must say it sounded like the best possible logical solution.
I really appreciate you taking the time to help, Martin.

The whole situation is very strange to me … a premier audio recording program that cannot record and stop with a single pedal … 1st press ON, 2nd press OFF … not much in life is that simple.

I can’t seem to get Cubase to respond either.
