Cubase Pro 11 - no audio recording

Hi!

Wondering if any of you might be able to help.

I recently upgraded from Cubase Pro 10.5 to Cubase Pro 11, and I can’t seem to record audio.

I use an iMac with Big Sur 11.6.1 and a Focusrite Clarett 4Pre sound card.

Things I’ve tried:

  • Updating Cubase to 11.0.41 and updating the sound card driver
  • Deleted Cubase entirely and reinstalled (3x) and rebooted computer
  • Different mics, mic inputs etc

N.B. If I open the same project with all the same settings + inputs in Cubase 10 (which I still have installed on the same machine), I can record just fine! So I’m guessing it’s a bug with Cubase 11…

Thought I’d give a shout out in case anyone has any suggestions or the same issue…

Thank you in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Double check, if the correct ASIO driver is selected and the Studio > Audio Connections > Inputs is set properly.

Also make sure Cubase has enabled Mic in the System Preferences, please.
Open macOS System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone. Enable Cubase here.

Wow, thank you Martin. You just saved my sanity!

It was the Mic not being enabled for Cubase 11 under Privacy in System Preferences. I’ve no idea how that happened. Not in 15 years of using Cubase have I had this issue. Perhaps I accidentally refused access when I installed it.

Really grateful for your help, THANK YOU again.
