Cubase is not loading VST instruments from the default VST3 folder (C:/Program Files/Common Files/VST3), not even the Steinberg native VST3 instruments. Everything is in the default folder, and I have removed all 3rd party VSTs. I can see it scanning VST3s in the splash screen but nothing comes up. Any ideas? Thanks
In the VST Plug-in Manager there is a button for creating a Plug-in Report. In the text file created all scanned VST plug-ins are listed with detailed data.
It looks like all the VST3 effects are coming up but not any instruments. Also, it seems like I can’t upload .txt files to the forum.

The Cubase stock instruments (Groove Agent SE, HALion Sonic, Padshop, Retrologue) are missing in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Steinberg, these have been obviously removed. A re-installation of Cubase can fix this. FX, which are in C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 13\VST3\Cubase Plug-in Set.vst3\Contents\x86_64-win are ok. That’s as far as I would go for now.
Hi, good one to check all his folders, i have got another one, but that is in a hidden folder:
C:\ProgramData\Steinberg
ProgramData = the hidden folder.
In the option of the folders you can set to show the hidden folders and files if you do not see this folder.
In C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Content you see 4 folders:
Groove Agent, HALion, Padshop and VST Sound
What do you see there?
Did you remove files with the Steinberg Library Manager?
Maby you can download your instruments again with your Download Assistant, if that works, i can tell you how to manage it without the library manager.
Will do…you know something there isn’t a Steinberg folder. Interesting.
I will do as you suggested also, if reinstallation doesn’t work out
I was mistaken, there is a Steinberg folder, but I will reinstall again to see if it works out.
Oh, missing folders?
Re-install via de installer and do you remember what you did before this problem occured?
Oké, succes.
so you see files in this folders with the extension *.vstsound ?
Because that is the place instruments are stalled.
And what do you see in the library Manager?
To all,
I’m good again! I uninstalled EVERYTHING (except my music files), including libraries and VST instruments using the unistaller. Then I deleted all associated files in AppData, Program Data, etc. Now I can see all of my VST Instruments once again.
About a week ago, I had a sudden problem that wanted me to activate Cubase all of sudden. I called tech support and they helped me. Since then, I was having little nuance problems that didn’t bother me, and then it got to this point. So I’m not sure what the cause was. In the end, thanks for the help guys!
