I currently have Cubase Pro 10.0.60 running on older PC with Windows 10 Pro, Intel i7 3770 Ivy Bridge CPU. 16GB RAM and 2 x 1TB SSD drives.
Planning on building a new PC next year but would like to take advantage of the current update promotion to Cubase Pro 13.
The minimum specs say 4th Gen intel CPU but my current one is 3rd Gen.
My question is would Cubase Pro 13 run on the current computer until I build new one?
I sometimes use Spectrasonics plugins. Appreciate any responses to my question.
There’s only one way to find out!
However, you can install it side by side with older versions, they are quite separate. And you don’t have to install it at all, just activate the licence, and install on your new machine.
Just to give a little more perspective : until five years ago, I was able to run Cubase 10 Pro on an i7 870 (Lynnfield) based system with 2 HDDs (mechanical). And from what I see, contrarily to many complains, C13 doesn’t use that much more ressources than 10.5 (I have both installed, which makes the comparison rather easy).
In your case, I would be more concerned by the amount of RAM installed : 16 Gb could be a bottleneck if you are dealing with projects using a massive amount of samples based VSTis.
But your concerns are perfectly understandable. So, to be sure, and as @Googly_Smythe said :
… and Cubase 13 Trial is your friend for this.
