For the last 2 months I’ve been having daily crashes with Cubase Pro 14.32.
I’ve been a Cubase user since the Atari days so quite seasoned. I have never had such regular problems.
I’m using a powerful dedicated W11 PC w 32 GB Ram and fast PCi M2 hard drive and Focusrite S/Card. In fact I’ve tested almost everything for errors but it all comes back to Cubase.
Tech support have suggested various ‘fixes’ including re-installing Cubase, Changing Grapics card settings and driver amongst other things- all to no avail…
Tech support have finally handed it over to the Developers with copies of frequently freezing and crashing .cpr s.
I wonder if this is a widespread issue since the latest update to 14.32?
All these freezes are the same. They are also the same as other users reported already, there is a cluster of these crashes/freezes in the Steinberg’s bug-tracking system.
Unfortunately I’m not aware of a way, how to work around it.
This specific freeze/crash (I linked it to the cluster) has been reported in Cubase 12 for the very first time. The crash occures just ocasionally and not at many systems. That’s probably a reason, why it has not been fixed yet.
Without detailed resolving of the DMP file, you don’t know, if the crash you get is this one, or any other crash.
If you also have crashes, please upload the *.dmp file here. Your crashes might be in totally different area.
Your crash dump indicates you’re using 10.0.26100.1 which is GE_RELEASE pre-build/Windows Insider release. I don’t think it’s necessarily reasonable to blame this on SB devs when you’re using beta builds that are over a year old and also using 14.0.10 builds of Cubase.
You seem to have misunderstood, perhaps by not seeing the whole thread.
I use the latest C14.0.32 but it has frozen or crashed consistantly for 2 months. The advice given was to try an early version of C14. Version C14.10 was what I used which froze on the 1st .cpr tested
Tech support, after many attempts, passed this issue on the the development team so many of us are waiting for a fix…
Release 10.0.26001.1 was released as Insider build on 3. April 2024 and it is a beta version of Windows 11 24H2. You must have installed it sometime because you are registered on the Insider channel at Microsoft.
So you are basically using Cubase 14 on a beta release of Windows and that is clearly a point of possible failures. This is typically not even supported.
If you were able to use it you were lucky, but a beta release is never a good idea to be used for production purposes. You should look for updates of your Windows system to the latest offical release of 24H2.
This is what I’m using (see end of this message) having just copied it from my Windows Specifications. If you’re finding a different result from the freeze dump I’ll include one from C14.0.32 on Wednesday.
It would be interesting to know why you read a different result. This is the same PC and W11 I’ve been using for a long time without Cubase crashes and freezes.
Martin Jirsak, who has been very helpful, has not pointed to a Windows problem though he originally though the problams were Graphics related. Changing Graphics cards resulted in the same crashes.
Thanks for your interest and I hope to find a resolution having been a loyal Cubase user since Atari days! joe
The symbols for NTDLL.DLL are not even available to the debugger.
The information you are posting here is inconsistent with the information within the crash dump file itself, which (no offense) I would consider the authoritative source. Not sure if you performed some manner of “in place upgrade” from a Windows Insider version, of course.
Are you saying this is a fresh install of Win11 and that you never used any Insider beta bits?
