I think this is the first time I see a new version of Cubase removes a feature, in this case, importing Music XML files. What exactly is the point of that?
Cubase 13:
Cubase 14:
Was it removed because they had to add the DAWproject thing?

No, it was removed because this was a functionality of the old Score Editor., which has been replaced entirely.
We do intend to bring MusicXML import back with a future update.
Finale users were brought to Dorico, and to Cubase. So how can files be brought from Finale to Cubase. XML is the most important import filter. So we have to keep Cubase 13, import a file with XML and then save it as Cubase, and open it with Cubase 14. Something wrong here.
Hi Raphael, welcome to the forum.
The workflow you describe will work to a degree, though there are several score symbols that don’t get converted reading Cubase 13 score projects at the moment.
As I said in the reply just above, we do intend to bring MusicXML import back.
Is this function coming back any time soon?
Also wondering if import of Music XML update is coming soon. Currently Steinberg is advertising Cubase 14 PRO as including Import/Export Music XML under the Composing section features. To some, this would be deemed as false advertising. I updated to Cubase Pro 14 only to discover it doesn’t import music XML and am still waiting for this functionality in an update.
Hi @JDTune, MusicXML is indeed not available in the current version of Cubase 14. However, I’d like to encourage you to wait just a little bit longer. This missing functionality is a high priority on our immediate roadmap, and we’ve been treating it accordingly.
The screenshot you are posting shows the Score Editor in Cubase 13, and indeed I can’t find the text you’re showing on our current website. Would you be able to post the exact link to where you found it, so we can ensure the information is correct?
oh and hi @t_mcgraw, welcome to the forum. I’m afraid I missed your earlier post, I hope my reply above answers your question too.
Thank you so much for your reply. Good to know it is a high priority and look forward to the next update soon.
I snipped from Cubase Pro 14 not 13. Here is the link: What Is Cubase: Discover All the Features | Steinberg
Click on Cubase Pro 14 for the Product and scroll down to Composing - will need to click load more features botton and will see the previous above screenshot showing Music XML Import/Export
Again, many thanks,
JDTune
ah yes, found it, thanks.
MusicXML import has been re-implemented in the 14.0.20 update. Import from Dorico files is now possible too:
