Cubase Pro 15 crashes when loading Groove Agent preset (Future Electronica / Colliding World)

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a repeatable crash in Cubase Pro 15 on Windows 11 (fully updated) and I’m hoping someone can help me confirm whether this is a known issue with Groove Agent SE or something specific to my system.

I performed a full clean installation of Windows 11, installed all updates, and then installed Cubase Pro 15 fresh. Everything runs normally until I try to load certain Groove Agent presets.

The crash occurs when:

  1. Opening Cubase Pro 15
  2. Adding Groove Agent SE to an instrument track
  3. Browsing the drum kits
  4. Selecting presets from:
    • Colliding World
    • Future Electronica
    • (possibly other kits in the same category)

As soon as I load one of these presets, Cubase immediately crashes and displays the following error:

“A serious problem has occurred in the following file:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Steinberg\Groove Agent SE.vst3\Contents\x64\win\Groove Agent SE.vst3
Cubase 15.0.20 has detected the corruption…”

It then instructs me to save the project under a new name and send the crash dump to Steinberg support.

What I’ve already tried:

  • Full clean reinstall of Windows 11
  • Fresh installation of Cubase Pro 15
  • Reinstalling Groove Agent SE 6
  • Updating all Steinberg content libraries
  • Running Cubase as administrator
  • Checking for missing content / library paths

Despite all this, the crash still happens only when loading certain presets.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with Groove Agent SE in Cubase 15?
Is this a known problem with the Future Electronica / Colliding World kits, or could it be a content corruption issue?

Any guidance or confirmation would be greatly appreciated. I can upload the crash dump if needed.

Thanks in advance!

The error message mentions a crash dump file at the bottom. Kindly upload this file here.

Quick update on the issue

Just adding a bit more information after further testing:

I’ve already reported this error multiple times through the official Steinberg channels, and I’m continuing to investigate on my side.

For clarity:

  • This is a full clean installation of Windows 11 Pro, fully updated.

  • No third‑party plugins have been installed yet — only Steinberg software and content.

  • Cubase Pro 15 and Groove Agent SE were installed fresh, with all content libraries updated.

Here’s what I’ve found:

  • If I load Groove Agent SE as an instrument track first, and then load the presets from inside the Groove Agent interface, everything works perfectly.

  • The crash only happens when I drag or load the same presets directly from MediaBay. As soon as I load Colliding World, Future Electronica, or similar kits via MediaBay, Cubase throws the serious error message and crashes.

So at this point, the issue seems specifically tied to MediaBay preset loading, not Groove Agent itself.

Hope this helps narrow things down. I can upload additional crash dumps if needed.

They seem to know this already, last message.. Hope they fix it asap..
