many thanks, i just saw the new post about the required theme change under
“Cubase Pro 8 does not work without Aero Themes in Windows” .
i found you can disable most of the features in this except
“use visual styles on windows and buttons”
and
“enable desktop composition”
im used to minimalizing bells and whistles to enhance performance
