Hi
I’ve just noticed that when I use files in NCH Videopad they red line.
So, I tried commercial tracks and they’re fine, also I mastered using Ozone stand alone and that was fine.
So, Are the tracks coming from Cubase Pro and Wavelab too loud ?
Why are they missing the ceiling level of -1.00 ?
This is for both Steinberg products.
Is there a setting that i’m missing for the digital calibration of the Steinberg software ?
The obvious work round is to use Ozone stand alone but, it’s clumsy compared to Wavelab for mastering that i usually use.
The files come out as loud as you made them.
When you talk about a ceiling level, where do you set that level?
Hi
I’m setting the ceiling level at -1.00. That means it shouldn’t go louder than -1.00.
That means it shouldn’t be too loud when used in other software
I’ve done exactly the same with Ozone and have no problems.
But where in Cubase do you set that ceiling level? In which plugin? Could you post a screenshot maybe?
Here’s 2 screen shots of the same audio files
The top is in Cubase where the left side audio is larger (and louder )
The bottom is after importing the same files into videopad.
The NCH Videopad people say their software doesn’t alter the audio when it is imported.
Well, something has changed.
I’m sorry but I’m afraid I can’t follow what the problem is (and I still don’t know where in the software you set that-1 ceiling)
I am also confused. The sample on the left looks extremely compressed, and in the upper example, there seems to be a make-up gain after compression (or a normalization.)
I’m not clear what we are looking at.
It’s OK
After the 4th question to NCH Videopad support I’ve finlly been told that Videopad normalizes imported audio files.
Luckily there’s a way to turn it off.
In any DAW or Wavelab for example you limit the output by putting a limiter in the master bus out. This I always set to -1.00 peak
Thanks for input.
