Cubase Studio 5 + Presonus Firebox Problems

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue where it appears that Cubase isn’t recognizing my Presonus Firebox.

I’m running Cubase Studio 5.5.3 on Windows 7 64bit, and Firebox driver 5.13.

When going to Device Setup and trying to select the ASIO driver, Firebox is selectable, but when selected it says “No sound device is connected to the PC.” I have checked the connections several times and can be assured that the Firebox is indeed connected to the PC.

Any advice? I’m also asking this on Presonus’ site, too.

Thanks.

Keith

Hello Keith,

I recommend you try completely uninstalling the Presonus driver from your PC and then go to the Presonus website and download and install the latest ASIO driver version for Win7 64-bit for your specific device. Then restart your PC.

Next, please shut down Cubase. Then go to the Start menu, All Programs, Cubase Studio 5, Cubase Application Data Folder. In the top address bar, you should see “App Data (roaming) Steinberg” Click on Steinberg at the top. This will put you in the Steinberg app data folder. Trash any Cubase or Nuendo folders that you see there. This will trash your key commands, preferences, sound card settings, etc. It also should help to clear up the problem you are having. Restart Cubase. You will need to reset your audio outputs (Devices, Device Setup, VST Audio System).

If the issue remains, then I recommend you contact Presonus’s support team to troubleshoot the issue with their ASIO driver.
