Cubase SX 1 on MAC OS 10.6.8 -- HELP

I really hope someone can help me out on this…

When I first got OS 10.6, Cubase SX would not recognize the protection device. So I got the latest elicenser software. After that, it recognized it, but would unexpectedly quit right as it opened. It did this for a while.

I downloaded the latest Cubase SX 1 update for Mac OS and I tried moving the VST folder to a different location and getting rid of weird plug-ins. Nothing happened. Then, I randomly tried disconnecting one of my MIDI devices (a Korg nano-Key mini keyboard) and it worked!!! For about 45 mins. Then it unexpectedly quit again. I tried re-opening Cubase SX 1 and it did what it always used to do…it unexpectedly quits at the last second. Still seems to read the protection device though. I tried re-booting and everything. What is going on??? Please help! I need to work on my projects!!

Please notice that Cubase SX 1 was never programmed for this operating system. I doubt if it will work

So basically, there is no way I can finish my old projects? Why did it work for almost an hour? And it worked beautifully by the way. I am just hanging on to mere hope.

You should be able to open SX 1 projects in newer versions. If not, you should maybe simply run an OS which is supported for the software you want to use on it…

Does anyone know which specific cubase versions will open sx 1 projects? Because i was reading that new cubase versions can’t. :confused:

Just want to say thanks to the dudes that responded. You were a great help. Now before I buy cubase 4 for MAC, can I be sure that it will run on osx 10.6 and higher? And does anyone know where I can buy it for cheap or cheapER? Thanks again everyone!
