Cubase uses too much CPU after fresh Win10 upgrade

Hi,

I have Cubase 9.5 Elements on an old PC.

Everything worked perfect untill I upgraded Win10. All the sudden Cubase uses all my CPU and maxes out making crackling noises.

Since it worked perfectly before the upgrade, I know it can do so again.

Anyone had a similar problem?

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Dan

Hi and welcome,

Might be something got wrong while Windows update. A clean system is always saver.

In any case I would try to reinstall your Audio Device driver. And I would also try to reinstall Cubase (as administrator).

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your help.

I want to delete and update my Steinberg UR12 driver but I can’t delete the firmware already installed. Do you know where it is located or how to delete the old firmware?

Thanks again

Dan

Hi,

Why do you want to delete it? You could just update it. I would recommend to uninstall firmware. That’s like to uninstall an operating system from your computer.

Hi, I want to delete it because it says “you already have the latest update” and I want to reinstall to make it work properly again after my latest full win 10 upgrade, so it wont use way too much CPU.

Thanks

Hi,

Then you probably mean the driver. Then you can use the common Windows uninstaller.
