Cubase (Win11) crashes shortly after closing project (Altiverb 8.2.5 the cause)

I do need the Komplete Kontrol driver for my MK1 controller to work though. I tried uninstalling the main core software program, but the issue still persists.

That’s bad! I just googled for “Native instruments drivers crash cubase 14” and I found another topic in this forum with the same problem:

Thing is that samueltornqvist seems to have found a solution! Read it there

Thanks for the possible solution. I already have all these set up. I even tried switching off my Komplete Kontrol MK1 controller and quitting Cubase - the problem still persists! Argh. I’m running out of ideas.

Okay, I’ve downloaded WinDbg and analyzed my ProcDump.

It seems that the latest version of ALTIVERB 8 is the damn cause.

It seems that Altiverb 8 has trouble gracefully unloading itself and its resources when I’m closing the project.

I’m going to try to see if I can get in contact with the guys at Audio Ease and see what they say.

Have a look at this thread

I’m afraid you are not the first one having issues with Altiverb 8.

Right. I’ve already gotten in touch with the Audio Ease guys. I’ll keep updates here as we go along.

Okay, just an update.

I downloaded and installed the latest version of Altiverb 8.2.7. The crashing problem seems to have been solved. Whenever I close the project, it goes back to the Hub, and things work fine as normal.

HOWEVER - everytime I click on buttons in Altiverb that have to do with the GUI - like enlarging, pop-up menus, etc etc, Cubase will crash INSTANTLY. So Altiverb has a GUI problem. I tried adjusting OpenGL settings in my Nvidia settings, nothing worked.

Not exactly ideal, but thankfully I don’t really need to use any of those functions. I can still load IRs just fine, adjust them, and that does not crash anything.

Kinda half-satisfied.

Damn it, spoke too soon. Altiverb 8.2.7 is still causing hangs whenever I render in place.
In fact, simply removing it from the track causes Cubase to hang.

Reverting back to 7. Enough is enough.
