When I launch Cubase, a MediaBay error appears and the program fails to start. I’ve attached a screenshot — since it’s in Korean, here is the English translation
There is an error in C:\Program Files\Steinberg\MediaBay\medialib.dll, or it is an image that cannot be executed on Windows. Try reinstalling the program using the original installation media, or contact your system administrator or software vendor for support. Error status 0xc0e90002.
To add to what @KT66 suggested: after downloading Mediabay and double clicking the installer you should also see an option to repair your current Mediabay.
I performed a MediaBay reinstall, but when I launched Cubase again, the following message appeared and it would not run:
“Windows Security: Some parts of this app have been blocked. Because the publisher of medialib.dll that the app is trying to load cannot be verified, some features of Steinberg MediaBay Server may not work.”
I consulted Claude (an AI assistant) about this issue, and was told it appears to be a digital signature problem. I then checked the properties of the medialib.dll file and navigated to the Digital Signatures tab, but it was completely empty — no signatures were listed at all.
I don’t remember exactly when I last launched Cubase, but I think it was around 10 days ago, and it seems like it’s been that way since the June 1st update.
I did the same here and the Digital Signature is also blank, but my mediabay works OK.
This is clearly not a widespread problem otherwise other people would be complaining about it. I’m not even sure why Windows Security should be getting involved here at all. I’m wondering if you have a permissions problem somewhere that’s causing this reaction.
