Hand drawing of automation is still unpredictable. Looks like somewhere underneath there are two kinds of segments - stepped/flat and linear, but there is no way to change the type from the gui. It could be some old code from Cubase in 90s, as I remember similar behavior. Also there is no way to add just one point using apple pencil - it always draws bunch of it.
