Cubasis 3 improvement - open LETTER to STEINBERG

You are a great leader and we value your dedication and support for Cubasis 3

Cubasis is my favorite DAW, both on desktop and iPad/ios, but we have to talk.

We NEED Cubasis 3 to have
-PDC
-MIDI learn

• tempo/time signature change track

RIGHT away; like the next update , not next year or in 3 years.

OTHER secondary features we want at some point but not urgent :

• Audio/midi routing
• File system management for comp record
• Multiple interface selection
• Drummer/drum improvement

Again those features are secondary and not needed immediately

However PDC , midi learn and , a tempo/time signature track for changes is ABSOLUTELY Needed , and needed soon

I personally am not going anywhere. I love Cubasis. But a lot of guys are frustrated , tired and are losing:/lost hope in Cubasis and are looking at other options instead like Logic, which does all of that^ and more

We don’t want a AI , drummer, bassist or keyboard , we don’t need or want the extras, and even if we have to pay for HALion and the FM synthesis and WAVES bundle it is worth it

We aren’t trying to cause you trouble.

We’re trying to stop logic from destroying the development of Cubasis 3

If you can implement those 3 main features we would really really be 95% there ; in fact for me it’s be enough

I don’t need anything more than group tracks. I don’t need groove agent se, I don’t need a better file system, and though it
Would be great u don’t need multiple interface selection

What is needed is what people have asked for 4-6 years; from Cubasis 2 to the start of Cubasis 3 to now 3.6.6

Honestly man, can you talk to us? We’re very anxious and only you can quell this rising upset- if you can’t see people want refund, people are mad, people are tired of it and fed up. And worse : most of all, they are going to Logic for iPad

CAN you PLEASE level with us?
Can you tell us PDC will be added, MIDI learn will be FIXED, and we have needed tempo/time signature improvements longer than anything.

Can you just at least have your team work on those 3 main things? Even if it’s 1 per update like PDC for 3.7, MIDI learn for 3.8 and 3.9 can do the time signature and tempo track???

I’m sorry to put you on the spot but I just want to know if we have hope cb3 will get those CRITICALLY VITAL updates , or if they are being developed for Cubasis 4???

Please Lars! We’re only trying to make our fave software by the best dev on iOS be the best and have no need to work with other daws

Why is nothing said about Slide-Notes? Where is a normal sampler? To do hi-hats I need to save it first inside the sampler and so with each file, no matter 808 or Kick, why do I need two files if I have Wav?)
The developers don’t listen to their community, Image-Line added Slide-Notes to their mobile DAW a long time ago and a normal sampler that works freely with Wav, without any saving of presets and so on.
But no, the answer will be from the bot “We heard you, we are working on it” no one is working on it and let’s be honest, they don’t give a poopies about our wishes.

Do we have to wait until Cubasis 4 before we get the Cubase Sample Track implemented in Cubasis?

A simple YES or NO answer will do…
…but I know we’ll not get a clear answer on this topic for what ever the reason may be. (hint bomb-rush the Cubase team and copy some source-code from them, the work is already done).

At this point I honestly don’t give a flying f*ck what happens to Cubasis, Sorry!

I so badly need a mobile DAW with me on my iPhone. That’s what’s holding my productivity back.
I’ll say it again as I said it many times: I need measure and tempo change.
I have not used Cubasis because I am so frustrated with this one issue. I don’t compose beats. I compose expressive complex music with variation in measure and tempo. Pproper normal music. Cubasis is not suitable for musicians yet… it’s just for amateurish fun beat music.

I feel one of these two is true, or both: I’m stupid for having bought both Cubasis 2 and 3 …and… Steinberg was lying to us for advertising these as a DAW.

I use Cubase mainly and lots of other tools. I don’t understand why you would think I only use Cubasis. Did i say that anywhere? The thing is i am a lot on the go. I can’t take Cubase with me. I get lots of ideas while not at home and have only bursts of minutes to try to edit them … I have the phone with me all the time. … not often i can take my laptop with me and the keyboard. I really dont understand why you would be sarcastic…

I said my music was normal not incredible. Those are your words. But i suppose ‘normal’ for you is even simpler than for me. You never use tempo changes.? You should be telling Steinberg off not me.

Tempo and signature track support is on our list, and we hope it won’t take too long getting there.

I’m entirely not happy though reading we were lying about something, which simply is not true.

We’ve created many tutorials and additional information which clearly show and explain what to expect and to get with and when using Cubasis.

You state that Cubasis 3 supports AUv3 plugins, but I haven’t found anywhere a warning that the PDC feature is not present. It should be present by default though, otherwise you can’t use many AUv3 effects.

I would never have bought Cubasis 3 if I had been warned that PDC doesn’t work.

It seems to me that not warning about it in the app description is not very conscientious on your part.

I guess it’s a matter of definition of the DAW notion.
I hope you can go deeper than be totally not happy or be easily offended. We all exagerate in life, Slowak.
In my acceptance, a DAW must include tempo change. It’s a workstation. A complete music making system. How can it be complete without tempo change? I suppose measure change can be worked around, for sound, but not for printing the score. I suppose printing the score isn’t a basic functionality. But changing the tempo is. Would you agree with me, Slowak? Cubasis was advertised as a DAW. The iPhone has the processing power for it. It remains for Steinberg to write the code now.
I’m sorry if I made you feel bad. You have a difficult job. I know you have to be politically correct and careful with your customers, and represent well and promote your company at the same time, it’s a hard job. I suppose it’s easier for us to speak, you have more constraints.
From this point of view I appreciate Steinberg for giving us this speaking platform, forum. It’s smart. It’s not public, it’s between the customers and the company. And we should be free to be ourselves here, it’s between friends, hopefully. I bought your products and I want Steinberg to do well, and I want to continue to use these products.
I want to continue to use Cubase and even Cubasis. But let’s be transparent and determined to improve. I listen carefully when people criticise me. Sometimes my enemies tell me very useful things… things that ‘friends’ don’t ‘risk’ telling me.

To be fair regarding ‘marketing lingo’ I don’t know a single developer or company that lists things NOT present in their products!?

Sadly most ‘reviews’ are overly positive towards the ‘reviewed’ products (ie. It’s painfully obvious they are more or less ‘paid advertisements’).

With that said I do hope we won’t have to wait too long for the next update.
For iOS/iPadOS user the next big OS system update drops next Monday the 16th…

Currently, we can only use time signatures with 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 in the upper number anf 4 in the lower number.

But we also need other note values (2, 4, 16) for the lower number and higher values than 7 for the upper number. For example, we can’t have 9 8 or 11 8 time signatures at the moment.

Markers? Any chance that we can have some markers, without them Cubasis breaks my workflow every time without having ability to place markers to note events or specify details in the timeline. I’m having to jump to audio podcast apps to have this function on longer timelines.
