Hello, I’m trying to connect the Yamaha THR10II to Cubasis LE 3 for iOS (iPhone 13 Pro); do I need a wired connection for it to work instead of just a Bluetooth connection? I purchased the Cubasis LE 3 full version in the App Store. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi @Todd_Hopwood,
Thank you for your message and a warm welcome to the Cubasis forum.
I purchased the Cubasis LE 3 full version in the App Store.
Cubasis LE can be freely downloaded on the App Store. Unless unlocked via a bundled hardware, the app runs in a free demo mode (which can be restarted as often as you like).
To unlock Cubasis LE from demo mode, please follow these steps:
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the THR10II for three seconds to activate Bluetooth pairing until the LED display will flash in green.
- Launch Cubasis LE and tap the “via Bluetooth tap here” text in the “Cubasis LE Demo Mode” pop-up.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Please let me know if this helps to resolve your problem.
Thanks
Lars
Hi Lars,
Thank you for your feedback and the warm welcome! I purchased the full-featured version of Cubasis LE 3, and I can connect my iPhone to the THR only if I connect through the iPhone settings. When I pull up the app, there’s no indication of an active connection; usually, I’ll get the prompt to connect to Bluetooth upon first opening a new app; I didn’t get that prompt here for some reason. Perhaps an uninstall/reinstall of the app might do the trick?
Hi @Todd_Hopwood,
Thanks for your message.
- Please enable Bluetooth on the Yamaha THR10II
- In Cubasis: Please go to "Setup/“MIDI” and tap the “Host” button in the "MIDI over Bluetooth and select the THR10II
Hope that helps!
Stay safe,
Lars
Hi Lars,
Thanks for your reply. After following your steps, I’m still having trouble getting Cubasis to recognize that there’s an instrument plugged into the THR. It shows a connection to the THR in the app; do I have to set up the “client” end of it too? Also, thank you for your help thus far.
Todd
Hi @Todd_Hopwood,
Normally, it should work as described above, which are the same steps as shown in the following Cubasis tutorial (which has created using Cubasis 2 back then).
If the problem persists, I can give it a try to exchange with our friends at Yamaha… while owning a THR myself, it’s not the BT model unfortunately…
Best,
Lars
Hi Lars,
Thank you for sending that link. Unfortunately, I still can’t get it, even after watching the other videos Steinberg has posted about how to get started in Cubasis LE. If I click on the mixer tab as the guy does in the Cubasis LE for iPad video, I get what looks like one channel that comes up; I don’t get that entire board where you can see the levels letting you know it recognizes some instrument input. Still, it looks like some buttons are different and named differently adding to my confusion.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the app or the hardware; I have no idea what I’m doing. Will there be a how-to video for the Cubasis LE 3 posted on the YouTube channel at some point?
Thank you,
Todd
Hi @Todd_Hopwood,
Ah… you are talking about how to use Cubasis in general?
Please check out our “Getting started with Cubasis” tutorial, where our friend Dom Sigials shows all steps to create a full blown track in near to no time.
While the clip has been produced with the full Cubasis version (which has more features compared to Cubasis LE), the basic steps are similar.
Hope that helps! Please let me know if it does…
Best,
Lars
Wow, that guy’s amazing thanks for sending that video! I love his approach and he’s great at explaining things, but I’m still not getting any response after I make the MIDI connection; Cubasis says I’m connected to THR10_II, but there’s no sound coming in through it. I plug in my guitar, still nothing. Still stumped…
Hi @Todd_Hopwood,
Could Yamaha’s THRII reference manual be of help here, to make it work?
Best,
Lars
It might! Thank you!
I was able to do the firmware update on the THR Remote with that manual, so thank you for that! Unfortunately, I can still not get Cubasis LE 3 up and running. I’ve included a screenshot hoping someone will see something I don’t… I’ve circled where the connection is confirmed; after that, I’m unsure how to proceed…
Thank you, Todd
Hi @Todd_Hopwood,
What happens when tapping the “Host” button (while BT is enabled on the THR)?
Best wishes,
Lars
Hi @Todd_Hopwood,
This all looks good.
Since I’m not equipped with the Bluetooth-capable THR device, I’ve shared the topic with my friends at Yamaha.
Will get back to you once I have their feedback.
Best,
Lars
Thank you, Lars. I appreciate it!
Todd
