Cubasis with Behringer flow 8

I bought a Behringer flow 8. Amazing digital mixer and interface. Any way for mijn laptop. But I tried to connect it with cubasis on My xiaomi mi 9T. I could get a connection. I tried it with a audio evolution mobile and it did record. After I installed a driver from audio evolution. I cant find a driver for cubasis. Is there a driver?

Hi @Ruud_Mooij,

Thank you for your message and a warm welcome to the Cubasis forum.

We are sorry to read about your issues to use your Behringer flow 8 device with Cubasis for Android.

As mentioned in the app description and on our website, Cubasis for Android offers limited audio and MIDI hardware support only, Steinberg does not currently guarantee full compatibility.

Cubasis for Android supports Google’s Oboe which possibly might be the limiting factor in using the Behringer flow 8. Since we’re not equipped with the flow 8 device ourselves, we suggest to contact Behringer about the issue. Of course, we’re at hand to have them equipped with a Cubasis for Android promo code for testing purposes, if required.

In addition, here are a few additional things to check:

  • Try another USB cable
  • Use a very good USB-B to USB-C cable instead of the OTG adapter
  • Quit all apps
  • Restart the device
  • Try both sequences: First start Cubasis, then plug in the audio device, or vice versa
  • Update Android
  • Disable Setup / Audio / Studio Quality
  • Is the audio device selectable in Setup / Audio under Output Device and Input Device?

Hope that helps!

Stay safe,
Lars

I am trying to connect flow 8 and my xiaomi tab6. Not clear for me If I should use bluetooth or cable to record

I am also considering a Flow 8 to be my “micro PA” setup. Many times I don’t need a bunch of channels, and I’d love to travel light. It turns out I have two spare Samson Concert 99 receivers that I will use in my “micro PA” kit and they can go into the mixer’s 5 and 7 line ports. That would give me preamps for up to 4 more mics if I needed that, and still have everything in a small case – plus one powered speaker.

Generally speaking, I would not have to record with this setup, as I have several larger setups that can do full multi-track recording. But if there was an easy way to track the Flow-8 to an Android pad (of which I have several spares), that would be a bonus. I don’t want to carry a full-sized laptop with this “micro PA” setup.

Cubasis looked like the obvious choice because I already do Cubase. But if this isn’t workable, I guess I’ll do something else or just go without a digital recording option. (I can always record the main mix from the analog headphone jack to a handy recorder.)

On the unofficial Behringer forum, I found a reference to the *Audio Evolution Mobile app (V5.0.8.7) with the optional eXtream USB driver (in-app purchase)"

The comment implied that this eXtream driver overcame some latency issues, perhaps comparable to ASIO for Windows. But I haven’t found much info on this.

Just as a general observation, more low-end mixers are adding multi-track recording to SD and/or USB drive. But even more of the products have aidio9 interface capability over USB. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me to drag out a big laptop to record from a 6-channel mixer, but Cubasis on a tablet seems to be just the right fit.

This is a quickly developing field, because most of the smaller digital mixers are designed to support the podcast community. These days, the better podcasts are not live. They have a certain amount of post-production, and that points directly to multi-track recording in a more robust way. So I am simply suggesting that Steinberg has a good opportunity if Cubasis on Android tablets can be a workable solution for these small format digital mixers.
