If I add a cue in my score, and change the octave, then the octave change has to be done again in the part. Is there a setting where I can change that, and other things that happen in the score but not in the part, such as note hiding? If I change something in the score, I almost always want it to happen in the parts too. Is there a way to avoid these extra steps?

If you set the local properties to “Globally” before the modification, the changes will propagate to the part as well. Works also the other way around (from the part to the score).
Also: when something has already been modified within the “Locally” scope and you want it to propagate to the part (or to the score), you can select it and Edit > Propagate Properties.
