Cuebase elements 12 random crash windows 11

Hello,

I’m having random crashes on windows 11 Home 21H2 running Cuebase Elements 12.0.52. Works fine, then sometimes it crashes on loading into the application. Other times it crashes when trying to make adjustments to a project.

I have recently changed my laptop from a windows 10 home machine where I had created the projects initially in Elements 12.0.40

I have attached a list of dump logs any pointers to get the program running smoothly?

Cubase Elements 12.0.52.393 64bit 2023.1.20 15.58.44.120-freezedump.dmp (440.7 KB)
Cubase Elements 12.0.52.393 64bit 2023.1.20 15.29.00.861-freezedump.dmp (530.4 KB)

Adam

It looks to me, a non programmer, like a device misbehaving, or can’t be reached…

Have you already ruled out prefs problems by starting in Cubase Safe Mode with disabled preferences?

Hey Steve,

thanks for your prompt suggestion! I’ll give this a try and report back to you!

Adam.

No luck, on opening a project I received this dump:

Cubase Elements 12.0.52.393 64bit 2023.1.20 16.53.04.557-freezedump.dmp (458.6 KB)

Now that you did this basic troubleshooting step, you can look at the devices connected to your computer.

If you’ve done this sort of troubleshooting before, you’ll know how to proceed, if not, here is a very basic method to try.

Rule out external devices

  • unplug all devices except for your keyboard, mouse and network.
  • restart the computer
  • launch Cubase Elements

Play around in the daw, try to make it crash. If you can’t,

  • quit Cubase and plug each device in, one by one and relaunch Cubase.
  • repeat the process for each device you need to connect.

Hey Steve,

Many thanks. No avail. I’ll try a clean install of Windows and install all the latest versions of the plugin’s and bring over no backup data until I have tested that it’s working.

Adam.

That is an excellent approach!

Try Initializing preferences
Tutorial is here it worked for me.

Troubleshooting for Cubase and Nuendo on Windows – Steinberg Support

Thank you for all your help!

I managed to solve the issue, it was caused by the audio driver. If I used the low latency generic ASIO driver, or the Realtek ASIO driver it would randomly crash. BUT, installing the ASIO4ALL V2 has solved the issue.

No more crashing and a smooth experience.

Adam.
