I’m writing parts for some Turkish music in 10/8 which use changing rules for beaming groups. This is easy to do in Sibelius if I remember right and also in Musescore, but I found no way to it in Dorico. One way would be to write it in Dorico, export xml to Musescore, get the beaming right and go back to Dorico which I not really what I want to do. Is there a way to have each beaming exactly the way I want without all this?
I enclose a screen shoot of the first two measures of the piece written in Musescore. But the beaming groups in the original differ widely …
You can either select a passage, right-click->Beaming->Beam Together.
Or, use Shift-M and write ex. [4+3+3]/8 to get beaming of 4+4+3. You can then hide the Time Signature. You can even write ([4+3+3]/8) to hide it automatically.
Setting the beam grouping in the time signature eg. [2+2+1+2+3]/8 will give you the first bar, and still display 10/8. Using this the 2nd bar just requires the f to be manually “make unbeamed”
Thank @jesele and @Janurs. Yes, this methods did the trick. Manual Beaming with right click was rather easier than doing it the Sibelius or Musescore way.
