I’m a newbie, and I have looked for other topics, so sorry if this is a duplicate. I’m running Dorico Pro 5 on Mac
I have created a custom chord symbol using Library->Chord Diagrams, but I can’t use it in Write Mode, nor does is show up in show up in the menu item “Show All Variants of Chord Diagram”. I have tried this both with chord name of “Gsus4#5b9” or with my own chord name “cebFourths”, which I can’t insert at all into the score
I was only allowed to upload one screenshot, I can upload more if this isn’t clear. Thank you
As you can see, below, my custom chord diagram does not appear to be available. I apologize if I’m missing something elementary
When you type a name into the chord popover, that is the name for the chord symbol, not the chord diagram. The name of the diagram isn’t actually used for anything - Dorico automatically works out which diagrams can be used for which symbols based on the notes in the diagram. My guess is that the diagram isn’t showing up in the “Choose Chord Diagram” dialog because it includes a 7th (the F on the D-string), which Gsus4#5b9 doesn’t. Does it show up as an option for G7sus4#5b9?
Thanks so much for your rapid reply. Unfortunately, no, that did not appear to work either:
Ah, of course, sorry, I’m being stupid. There’s a Bb/A# in your diagram too, so you need G7sus4b9#9#5.
Yes, that’s it. Thank you very much
