Hi,
Can I create a new percussion map with sounds from different other percussion maps ?
Thanks in advance.
JM
It’s not completely clear what you mean, but if the question is really something like, can different instruments in a percussion kit trigger sounds from different patches/sounds or even different plug-ins/libraries, then the answer is yes – but it needs to be done in Play mode, not by creating a percussion map.
A percussion map describes the mapping between a MIDI input pitch and an output percussion sound, and describes that relationship for a single patch, not for multiple patches.
So if you want some instruments in a kit to use one patch and others to use another, you will need to create or obtain percussion maps for each patch you want to use.
Once you have them, in Play mode, you can expand the percussion kit in the track overview so that each instrument in the kit is listed separately, and you can then select each of them in turn and assign them to different endpoints in the Routing section of the Track Inspector, which is where you then need to select your percussion maps.
Hello, thank you for your response. To be clearer, I will give you the example that poses a problem for me. I created a project in which I added an instrumentalist playing the snare drum. I created a percussion map by duplicating Yamaha XG. On this new map, I kept Natural, Rim shot, Tap, Swish, and Side stick. I would like to add “Snares off” which is found in the HSO Snare Combi KS and HSO Snare Combi Key maps. Is it possible? Can you tell me how I could achieve what I want? Thank you in advance.
I have snares on and off in an expression map. The same for différent beaters if available. So you can leave your percussion map as it is and you do not need all techniques with and without snares..
