Customize multiple different rhythmic phrasing within time signature

Song is in 3/8, and one player is phrasing 2 over 3, so I’d like them to see two dotted 8th notes, but another player is player solid 8th notes.

If I put it in 3/8, the 8th note player looks great, but the 2 over 3 person sees a dotted 8th note followed by a 16th note tied to an 8th note

If I put it in [3+3]/16, then the 2 over 3 person is grand while the solid 8th note person is looking at an 8th note, two tied 16th notes followed by an 8th note

help creating multiple different rhythmic phrasing within the same measure?

Welcome to the Dorico forum!

If you specify a time signature of [3]/8 in the Shift-M popover, Dorico won’t try to visually separate the quaver/8th beats, but beam everything like it’s just one beat per bar, also using dotted quavers/8ths for the duplets.

In this case, this will do much of what you want, but in any case it’s useful to become familiar with the ‘Force Duration’ functionality:

Welcome to the forum.

There are many routes, but the simplest and quickest is to use forced duration.

Thank you! So very helpful!
