Dark or light themed look?

This is a relatively trivial subject, but here goes…

Since it was the default, my first two projects in Dorico were done with the ‘dark theme’ for the toolbar, the zones at sides and bottom, and the various option windows. However, I’ve now changed to the light theme and with it has come a feeling that my mood too has lightened. Moods apart, my 85 year old eyes were maybe a little troubled by what seemed to be an increase in distracting reflections from my surroundings if large areas of the screen were dark.

What are the advantages or disadvantages of using the dark or the light theme? I prefer the light, but I think a lot (a majority even?) of people prefer the dark look. Why? Is it just personal taste? Or is there more to it?

In Dorico the light mode makes the scroll bars easier to see; otherwise I would work in dark mode. In my case that is easier on my eyes, but I have positioned the monitor to avoid reflections.

I always switch to the light theme if there is such an option available. For the longest time Pro tools didn’t have dark mode at all, and once they offered it I tried it for about 3 minutes and hurried back to the world of colours. Same thing with Dorico: Light theme all the way, baby!
