Is there a way to import a DDP from an existing audio CD?
I tryed using the Import Audio CD function, but it is not a 1:1 import. The pauses between tracks are not the same as in the original audio CD. That’s why I wanted to convert the CD back to DDP, but Wavelab doesn’t seem to be able to do that, or am I missing something?
If there is another way to import an audio CD without any alterations, I am also happy to know more about it. Preferably directly inside Wavelab.
To import a DDP (Disk Description Protocol) image—including audio data and markers—into Steinberg WaveLab Pro, open the Audio Montage workspace and select File > Import > DDP. Always select the entire DDP folder (not just individual files within it). Depending on how the DDP was created, track names or CD-Text may not always transfer completely and might need to be added in the CD window. After importing, check that the first marker is correctly positioned at 0:00 to avoid playback issues.
Yes, but I can’t extract a DDP imagae directly from an audio CD within Wavelab. The DDP has to be created first from the CD, before I can import it into Wavelab. I can’t a function to get a DDP from a CD directly.
At the moment I am using Exact Audio Copy to extract a continuous audio file from the CD and an additional .cue file. Then I import both into a Wavelab audio montage.
But this seems cumbersome, so I am asking, if there is a way to import a DDP directly from audio CD.
As far as I know, when clicking on ‘Convert All CD Tracks to Audio Montage’, the actual audio pauses between the tracks and all durations of the imported data should be the same as the original… BUT the resulting montage will contain splice markers instead of start and end markers (correct me if I’m wrong). Would the latter really be a problem if you were to use this ‘splice marker version’ to write the DDP?
Mostly for referencing particularly good and particularly badly paced CDs. Being able to see and analyse, what I am already hearing or not already hearing.
And also for ripping CDs for gapless playback just for enjoyment.
