Deactivating Pro trial after buying Elements

Hello. In the middle of a Dorico Pro trial I bought Dorico Elements. I activated that and deactivated the Pro trial in the activation manager but whenever I launch the app it reactivates the Pro trial and launches that rather than Elements. Do I just have to wait for the Pro trial to expire or can I deactivate it permanently?

I could remove your Dorico Pro trial from your account, but this isn’t something you can do yourself.

It’s fine, don’t go to any trouble. I’ll just be careful not to use any Pro-only features.

can some one remove my pro version (trail) as well, i have bought the elements

Welcome to the forum @F_Kelder. It shouldn’t be necessary for us to remove your Pro trial: just run Steinberg Activation Manager, deactivate Dorico Pro, and activate Dorico Elements, then run Dorico again.

Thanks for the answer but
Unfortunately dorico pro activatie it’s self every time and I have to deactivate the trail version.
Should I remove all the dorico software and then activate it again?

There’s only one application. Whether you get to see it as Elements or Pro depends on the licence, and thus the activation. There’s no need to remove Dorico. And the Pro trial will eventually just expire anyway.

I don’t think it should be necessary, but I’ve removed your Dorico Pro trial from your account, @F_Kelder, so you should find that if you refresh your licenses in Steinberg Activation Manager, the Pro trial no longer appears there.

Yes , this is helpful and elements starts immediately.
Thanks a lot

Hi Daniel! Could You also delete these entries from my Steinberg account? Please! Dorico Pro 5 trial and Dorico Elements 5 trial. I also have problem with Dorico not seeing HAlion Sonic 7 and Groove Agent SE 5. I can’t play or listen to anything. Where to look for a solution :-)? Piotr (Peter).

I have done so, Piotr.

I have the same problem! I can’t uninstall the trial version of Dorico 5, and after purchasing the licensed version, the sounds won’t activate.

You don’t need to uninstall anything: run Steinberg Activation Manager, and click the “refresh” button in the top right-hand corner. You should see your permanent license appear in the list of products: click Activate for your permanent license, and Deactivate for your trial.

Hi there, could my Pro trial also please be deactivated? And would it be possible to fix this bug? It’s not a great customer experience to purchase something and then have the activation manager continuously insist on activating a different license instead. No matter how many times I deactivate it, it reactivates itself. Thanks!

Part of the problem is that by default the Steinberg Activation Manager is set to “auto-activate” licences. For most users (particularly new users) this is a good thing as it handles everything for you, but if you have multiple licences for the same software it can be quite tricky for SAM to work out which licence to activate in this way. However, you can avoid the problem entirely by turning auto-activation off in the Settings page of the Steinberg Activation Manager.

Thanks for the tip, that helped and in that case I’m happy to keep the Pro trial and revisit it later.

I appreciate that auto activation is there for a reason, but surely the user manually deactivating a license should work as an override and this choice should persist?

It doesn’t currently get treated as an override, no. It might be challenging to clearly distinguish “not active, will be activated if needed” from “not active, was previously deactivated and is now overridden” - either in the UI or in the code. Plus you’d need to be able to turn off the override. It’s an interesting idea though.
