We don’t think it’s necessary to have a separate forum section that covers the tools and primarily the SDA, to be honest. And the feedback in here doesn’t really support the need for it.

I would support this as well, in fact I think we need a category to cover non-optional components that need to be installed and updated regularly, or at least a read-only change log:

• Download Assistant
• MediaBay
• Library Manager
• Activation Manager
• Steinberg built-in ASIO driver

I’ve included the generic ASIO driver as this gets installed every time, regardless of whether it’s needed or wanted, and cannot be prevented. These all make changes to a system, and at least we could get a heads-up before the changes happen. These do go wrong from time to time … most recently the SLM, for example. If we knew when changes are made, it would help troubleshooting and avoid wasting time wondering if it was user error.

Looks to me like there’s near-seventy-percent support, based upon the extremely small sampling herein. I don’t think the subject should be dismissed out of hand, or “closed” simply because two mean people showed up to spoil the soup, because up until then, there was 100% support for the idea… just sayin’.

I do appreciate the direct response from @Ed_Doll however, even if, imho, it is rather short-sighted. I will endeavor to make a better case. Thanks Ed.

Hi, I agree with you - the lounge area doesn’t offer enough tags. However, you’ll find most of download related topics in the forum part associated with the download itself. I am not sure if a separate category is necessary, though. One last thing: It’s called Steinberg Download Assistant (SDA). You must have confused it with the Steinberg Library Manager or the (Steinberg) Activation Manager. Believe me - I have been there, too. I have to check each time whether it’s a manager or assistant… …

Nonetheless, I think you have made some valid points like having trouble to find specific SDA related solutions via forum search. Maybe a well-documented FAQ and trouble shooting section along with detailed release notes run by Steinberg would be even more beneficial than a separate section?

Be it as it may, Steinberg has the last word on that matter.
