Can anyone tell me the default locations where different dorico files are saved or stored please, and is it possible to save them elsewhere on my computer ?

I don’t remember the default, but I do remember where you can find it as well as change it. Go to edit → preferences and it is in the general section under "files, saving projects…

Thank you gdball , I have found and used the place you gave
…and from the Save As dialog you can jump to any folder/drive/location you like, as in pretty much every other application.
