When I enter notes using the mouse Dorico gives those note keyvolocity 100. I want to change that default to 75. I don’t want to have to go into the Playing Techniques editor to make the change. Is there a way to set that default value?
there isn’t a default you could set but you could always set the velocity range in the Expression Map to min 75 and max 75 - that will fix velocity at that level unless you modify it in the key editor.
If the Expression Map for this sample instrument uses Velocity for dynamics, then the prevailing dynamic will set the Velocity value.
If Velocity isn’t used by the instrument, then it won’t matter what it is.
I not sure how you would do this in the PT Editor. The easier way would be to select all the notes, and set the Velocity in the Properties panel.
well exactly but that wasn’t the question – I was assuming some reason for the request. But perhaps the OP has misunderstood how dynamics actually work.
