I previously used the Demo, then activated Dorico Pro through a crossgrade. Because this didn’t go through the normal process, I show two activations, one for the Demo (expired) and one for Dorico 6 Pro (active).
I keep having problems where Dorico comes up as not activated and I have to manually launch the Steinberg Activation Manager. The last time, I was on an aircraft. Thankfully, this particular aircraft did have free Wi-Fi. Otherwise, I would have been unable to use the software, and you’d be seeing a whole lot more swear words in this post.
How can I delete the stale demo activation so that this app will stay signed in for more than a couple of weeks at a time? (I last ran the app on June 29.)
You can’t remove the expired trial entry yourself, you need to contact support for this.
However, the expired license should not impact your active license, Dorico should simply pick the valid active Pro license.
I don’t have a trial for Dorico in my Activation Manager, but I do have one for Wavelab and it does not step in when I launch Wavelab. It always comes up correctly as active Pro License.
I have expired demo licences, but I’ve never had any confusion over the activation – Dorico has always worked with the current licence. I’d suggest sorting out the activation issue is actually what you’re really after.
If you could delete the old demo licence, then there would be nothing to stop you from renewing the demo over and over…!
