Delete Vertical Red Line

How do I delete RED VERTICAL LINE in Dorico 5 SE (FREE Version)?between measures 4 & 5?
Thanks in advance for your help. I was sure that I had written down the instructions when I had this problem before, but cannot find them.

Click the line and drag it off the page. When it turns into a line of red dots, release the mouse button and it will disappear.

I finally found out how to get rid of Red Vertical Line in a measure:
SHIFT>OPTIONAL>I. Do this twice. Red line swill disappear the second time you use: SHIFT>OPTIONAL>I

The vertical red line is an Insert mode stop position.

You can remove it following the instructions described here:

Thanks. I had the same issue, a red line I didn’t recall putting there, wanted to make it go away, something to do with insert, cut or paste evidently, looked in the documentation, could not find it because I did not know what it was called or its precise function. The documentation is very thorough but if one does not know the name of an item on the interface, it can be difficult to find in the doc.

You are not the first and probably won’t be the last to be mystified by the “red Line” and how to get rid of it. A visual index card showing special Dorico terminology would be very helpful.

Try searching the online version of the manual: it has loads of extra metadata based on how real users phrase their questions.

For example, if you search the Pro 5.1 webhelp for “red line”, the top result is (for me anyway) the instructions for deleting Insert mode stop positions.

Basically, if you type into the online manual’s search whatever terms you would use in a forum post, chances are you’ll get something useful.

Thanks Lillie. I ONLY use the online version of the manual and that’s where I did not know how to find it. I searched for red, red line, system track and did not find it.

Here’s what I see when searching “red line” – the top two results are both about Insert mode stop positions, with example pictures.

Huh. This is what I see when searching.

This is Brave browser, current version, on a Mac.

On my Linux desktop I did the same search, also Brave browser with default cookie settings, and saw different result. It would have found the red line although what’s displayed is not the same as what your search found.

That’s the search for the whole help site, rather than within a specific manual – that’s weird that you got no results, I’m seeing some relevant suggestions with the same search filters when searching “red” and “red line”.

I’ve passed on your thread to my colleagues, as something looks off with the product filter in your screenshot – how did you reach this page, what did you click on?

Within the Dorico Pro 5.1 manual (which I’d recommend bookmarking, so you can easily access it), you get results with more results based on metadata embedded into topics that doesn’t appear in the body text itself.

My view was simply having clicked on one of those top 2 search results, to jump to that place in the manual. In your 2nd screenshot, on the right is just the beginning of the manual.

Thank you @Janus

Hi Lillie,
when selecting Dorico help from within Dorico 5.1.70 I get an error about not found:

@Mads_Vinding, please go to the General page of Preferences, choose another language from the Language drop-down, click Apply, then choose English again, and click Apply once more. Now you should find that the help links work as expected again. Sorry for the inconvenience.
