This is an odd one: I am trying to hide these instrument names as they shift. Any thoughts?
Those are instrument change labels. You can either turn off the labels altogether in Layout Options for the layout, or use the Properties panel to override the text to be empty.
Where do I turn them off in layout options?
I’ve looked at this, and it appears you can hide warning labels (such as “to Flute”) in Layout Options, but only Properties can hide entrance labels. You have to be in engrave mode, and then you can change the label text to just a space in order to show nothing.
