Derek Bourgeois

I just saw that forum member and noted composer Derek Bourgeois just passed away. Only 75, how very sad. Condolences to friends and family.

Oh, my, that is very sad indeed. I’ll pass it on to some of his friends in the Sibelius community.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of the loss of Derek Bourgeois.

I told him my admiration for the number of his symphonies. I remember he said that the playback capabilities of DAWs were of great help in achieving that.

Condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad news. I remember Derek with great affection from online encounters over Sibelius. I enjoyed conducting his Serenade in 11/4 with my brass band in Indiana many times: it never failed to please. Despite lacking technical expertise, in retirement from a distinguished teaching career he was tireless in fighting the vast array of technology he had to master to synthesize his music. His was a life lived to the full and touching many others who will not forget him. RIP.

Just noticed his obituary in The Times. Sad news :frowning:
