Device Setup - ASIO Driver Options Disappeared

hi,

all of a sudden there’s no playback, and my “device setup” screen gives me no options for outputs.

so baffled

I’ve restarted, opened a new blank project, watched the entire “troubleshooting audio” youtube video. The “Device Control Panel…” button does nothing. I don’t know what else to try

Did you tamper with the installation? Looks like some component is missing.
Please do Help > Create Diagnostics Report and post the corresponding zip file here please

I don’t think so?
When I opened Dorico today it gave me a “what’s new” tour as if there was a new version just installed, although I don’t remember upgrading or anything.
Thank you for helping me

Hm, difficult to say.
In the logs it says that on October 5th you ran Dorico and it could “see” following devices:
2021-10-05 08:58:31 : =>Built-in + Zoom + Duet;Built-in + Zoom + Duet
2021-10-05 08:58:31 : =>Built-in Audio;Built-in Audio
2021-10-05 08:58:31 : =>FromSW;FromSW
2021-10-05 08:58:31 : =>Scarlett + Built in;Scarlett + Built in
2021-10-05 08:58:31 : =>ToSW;ToSW
2021-10-05 08:58:31 : =>ZoomAudioDevice;ZoomAudioDevice
2021-10-05 08:58:31 : =>花火;花火
2021-10-05 08:58:31 : =>花火 (2);花火 (2)

Then you did not run it until today and now it does not find any device any more.

In Finder, please go to Applications/Dorico 3.5 and do a right-click on it. Choose Show Package Content and navigate further to Content/Applications. On the VSTAudioEngine3.app the same thing again, Show Package Content and then navigate to Content/Components. What is in that folder?

And otherwise audio works fine on your computer, right?

yes audio working fine everywhere else no problems.

Here’s what I see in the Content/Components folder within VSTAudioEngine3.app package:

Hm, then I’m absolutely puzzled. All necessary components are there, yet no device detected.
I’ve never seen something like that before. I need to think about it and will come back to you

I am having the same issue as described. Was this ever solved? I’m runnign Dorico 3.5.

Hi @aclaraschumann ,
could you please choose from Dorico’s menu Help > Create Diagnostics Report which will create a DoricoDiagnosticsReport.zip on your Desktop. Please attach that to a reply here. Thanks

Hi, I’m having the same problem in Dorico 6 too. First, I used the demo version without any problem and when I downloaded the complete version it didn’t work out anymore. How can I fix it?

Start by making and posting a Diagnostic Report. Can you get as far as the Hub? If so you can create a Diagnostic Report from the Help menu.

I tried to send it but it’s too big. Is there any other way?

One can email it to Daniel (d dot spreadbury at steinberg dot de, I think: not sure about the first dot) or @Ulf or put it in a Dropbox type site and post the link to the file. If you email it, be sure to refer to this post so Daniel will know what the issue is.

Ok, I’ll try to reach him by mail because apparently the link doesn’t work either.

Thanks!

@jotadesarabia , please send directly to me please under u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de

And before creating such diagnostic report, please make sure that a project is opened in Dorico. Thanks a lot

Thanks for the data @jotadesarabia .

The log files show me, that no audio device could be found.

At some stage you seem to have had a Altavoces (4- SRS-XB13) as audio device, but that one is not recognized any more by Dorico. Did you unplug that or is not switched on or what…?

Those are bluetooth speakers, I started trying to work with them but since it didn’t play any sound I turned them off to make sure that wasn’t the problem, but the issue persisted.

The thing is I can¡t even choose for an output device because the device setup dialog doesn’t show any option. I also tried to fix it from HALion but when, for instance I played any key of the piano with the mouse it didn’t even have any gain

Yes, of course, when Dorico can’t recognize any audio device, it won’t show anything in the Device Setup dialog.

Can you connect the bluetooth speakers again and try with them once more? Additionally then in the Device Setup dialog you need to also click on the Device Control Panel button. Is there nothing listed as in- or output port?

I clicked on it but It’s not displaying any list

Now all of a sudden it’s working but I just didn’t do anything that I didn’t do already before
