Did Cubase 14 Drum Machine replace Groove Agent?

Is Groove Agent 6 in the works or is Cubase 14’s new Drum Machine going to be its replacement?

That’s what I’m wondering myself. I’m wondering if Steinberg plans to, over time, move Groove Agent features to the integrated Drum Machine.

Just watched the demo video by Dom. No mention of GA5.
You’d think that Dom would’ve pointed out that the drum machine/track would be activated / integrated when dragging a GA5 pad into C14.
The only way to find out how integrated GA5 is with the new drum track is to try it. So this may be a deliberate marketing strategy to promote C14 demo downloads.
I don’t intend to update to C14 until after the usual consumer debugging period. Do won’t find out until someone else posts their findings here.

In 1 of his videos, Chris Salim mentioned that it is not a replacement for GA

Gawd, I hope not.

Maybe the GA will be split into separate applications.
Like Acoustic Agent and Beat Agent.

Nah we’re good. Drum Machine cant take a break and slice it up for me, GA still doing its thing as usual…

Lately I have been really getting into using Groove Agent to produce songs. It has really grown on me. There is so much flexibility available to inspire me when using it. Learning its complexity, for me, has been time well spent. Very happy with the results. Very realistic sounding drums and percussion especially for certain genres. It is really an amazing piece of kit (yes pun intended!), kit or kits I should say (full version). Drum machine in CB 14 works really well too but it feels all together different. I would like to have both tools in my arsenal. I can only hope more of us feel the same way and Groove Agent continues for a very long time.

Groove agent is probably the most important vst in my productions, for drums as well as other sampled tracks. The new drum machine looks interesting from a workflow enhancing perpective. I would see myself building kits quickly in drum machine and then, if needed, transferring them to GA for further tweaking. So, I really hope that some level of integration of drum machine to GA is coming, such as an “open in” button in the top right corner, like how sampler track can be transferred to GA.

I’m hoping that the new Drum Machine and Groove Agent will both stay - similar to the way the Sampler Track and HALion both exist and have been developed further as time went on.

No worries, Groove Agent is alive and … kicking (sorry, couldn’t resist).
Drum Machine and Sampler Track are there to integrate deeper with Cubase, they won’t replace anything from the current instrument line up.

:joy:

Thank you for confirming!

GA is such a top notch drum and beat making plugin, it deserves a long and healthy future indeed!

That’s good to hear. I see the convenience of the Drum Machine integrated into the lower zone, but see myself continuing to use Groove Agent (Beat Agent) when I am working with all other (drum and melodic) samples than processed and trimmed drum samples. The resizable window and large sample view for precise editing and features alone make it superior.

What I really hope is for some integration between Drum Machine and Groove Agent - to be able to transfer a Drum Machine kit to Groove Agent as you can do with Sampler Track. At the very basic level - I tested copying/dragging a Drum Machine pad to Groove Agent and this does not work at the moment.

I hope (I guess) there will be an update soon (and Absolute 6 as well) maybe after the cyber deel  .
This would be a perfect Christmas gift from Steinberg. (Please, please, please…)
