Difference between major and minor keys

Hi all,

Just for my understanding:
If i press Shift + K and then type in G, Dorico sets the key to G Major.
If i type in e, Dorico sets the key to e-Minor.

The manual also tells me, that e and G is not the same. However, the appear the same (both have 1 sharp).

In a musical context, there is of course a difference between e Minor and G Major, I’m aware of that. However, what difference does it make in Dorico which Key I’m chosing of the two? Do some functions differ, if I write it my music in e-Minor, but use the key of G Major in Dorico?

Thanks in advance!

Spelling I believe.

Dorico likely sets up different expectations behind the scenes for the two similar key signatures. Enharmonic accidentals may be applied differently, for the two keys.
