I have the problem, that the page templates corrupt each other.
I have a piano reduction for A4-Paper and a score for (bigger) Quart size.
Now: I have an index page, which was a lot of work, which I would like to adapt for the other paper size.
This is what I did:
First, I made a template for the index for A4. This works well for the piano reduction.
Second, I made a new template based in the “index” named “ScoreIndex” to adapt the layout and tab positions to the bigger paper size.
However, all changes in tab positions of a text frame I make, are also made in the other template. So, always one template is corrupted.
How do I prevent the changes of one template to apply to the other?
Generally I do not quite understand, how to fix a template for a special paper size, which in my opinion is absolutely crucial.
The paper size of the template always seems to be taken from the layout which is active at the moment. One has to be very careful not to corrupt a template that way.
Page Templates adapt to whatever Page Size you have set in the Layout. How each frame on the template will adapt depends on the constraints you apply (select a frame and see which padlocks are blue…
The problem arises, when I want to use a template in different layouts with different page sizes. There should be a way to adapt it to the other page size. Therefore I tried to make a new template for a new page size. And the main problems are not the Constraints, but the tab positions and font sizes. And so far I found no way to get individual tab positions in each template.
Of course, I could make a comlete new template, but this would be a frustrating solution, since the first layout took quite some work and it would not very good to be forced to do everything again.
