I would like to make Timpani incipits (showing the tuning) with the Ambitus font as described here:
However, it is a work with four movements, and I would like to indicate a different tuning at the beginning of each movement. How do I add a different text into the staff label of each of the four flows?
You could just have a separate Timpani instrument for each flow, of course.

Then I’ll have some extra hassle with the part. I think I will just drop it if there is no simpler solution. Many people have suggested anyway that the tuning and changes for timpany are best left to the player to determine. I have written it in a way that everything is possible, of course.
But it seems strange to me that there is no function for this. Since flow is the equivalent of a movement in Dorico, surely there should be the possibility to have individual staff labels for each flow/movement?
@silvanloher, I answered in the original thread, here , before noticing that @hrnbouma made the same suggestion.
@silvanloher, please don’t write the same question in separate threads, because this will create unnecessary confusion, doubled answers, and make the forum harder to search for other users.
With the suggested method there are no hassles for the parts.
See my example in the original thread, where I show also the necessary settings as well as providing a Dorico example Project.
