Greetings Dorico community. In my Finany to Dorico journey, one feature I have trouble with is chord fonts. I have come across another odd chord font issue I cannot seem to solve. I tried looking in the Help system to no avail. As you can see from the image, I have entered a BbMaj7 and a Bb/F. The delta symbols differ in size; it is not a big deal, it just bothers me. Any advice on where to look to adjust the fonts to match?
If I’m right about that, then I think you’re looking at modifying things manually.
If you intend a triad, are you firmly committed to including the triangle?
An admitted quirk of mine as a jazz pianist, but the moment I see it I think maj7. The quick and easy way to “solve” your problem might be to switch major triads to simple root-only notation.
@Peter_Bransche Yes indeed it looks like it is baked in Dorico, strange. The only solution I can find is to edit that triangle with the triad chord symbol. Or I miss a setting somewhere.
What I did.
Library - Chord Symbols
Add any major triad, I did Amajor.
Double click on the triangle. Your are now in Edit Chord Symbol Component.
Remove the triangle (click on the bin right down)
In the ght part of the panel you Smufl Unicode. Select Unicode.
Scroll to the triangle
Select the triangle
Click Add Glyph
Scale it to 88%, don’t ask me why.
Click OK
Click Apply
Now you are done for all major triads.
To be honest I find the triangle for a triad and a bit unclear an would go for the solution of @jesele but that is personal. This is what you asked for. I hope it works for you or better that somebody finds a more native solution because it is a bit strange behavior.
In the attachment your file whit the edits I just described.
Thank you Maarten & Nordine. Both ideas work. I dont come across this situation often, it just happens to appear on one of the first xml imports I am working on. I appreciate you taking the time to look at my file and providing a solution!
Yes much better because you have an better triangle now, but in this case you have also have to make edits to the chord symbols, it is not only engraving options.
