"Direct Monitoring" greyed out

Hi,

I have already searched the forums for this question but have not found a fix yet.

I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface. Right now I am trying to enable “Direct Monitoring” under Device Setup > VST Audio Systems > Focusrite USB 2.0 Audio Driver.

The button is greyed out. The only button I can select in this area is “Externally Clocked.” I am currently going through a tutorial for Cubase Artist 7 and it is highly recommended that I configure direct monitoring, so I’d like to at least try to do this. My device does have a “Direct Monitor” switch, which enables me to hear what the mic pics up through my headphones. However, I don’t think plugins will be audible. I’m not sure. Maybe it isn’t necessary to select this box to do D.I.?

I don’t know if this is the case for you, but Direct Monitoring is only available on PC, not on Mac.
