In Cubase 12, when I select any group in the mixdown window (intending to print stems) where the direct routing is set to anything other than the first one (let’s say the first direct routing is A and the second is B), the result is silence. Specifically, if I choose direct routing B, I encounter silence.
However, when I perform a regular mixdown with the direct routing for a group set to B, but print from the mix bus, the print is as expected.
I’m curious if this issue has been addressed or fixed in Cubase 13, as I haven’t upgraded yet.
This same problem crops up when using Render In Place with Direct Routing. If the Routing is set to anything other than the first slot the render will be blank.
I just gave it a test in Cubase 13 and the issue unfortunately still exists.
However Cubase 13 has added some new routing capabilities that while not fixing this do offer additional flexibility. You can now take an Audio Track and assign almost any other Track as it’s Input & then Record that. Strangely this has turned out to be one of my favorite new things in 13.
Wow, Raino, thank you for testing this out!
I appreciate the screenshots too! I’ve been eager to explore these new routing possibilities, as I missed having them from PT. I’m glad to hear your feedback about that.
I hope the direct routing issue gets fixed soon. I heavily rely on it for stems in my extensive mixing template.
