Distortion/Aliasing

Is it me (or my setup) or VL?

Is anybody else experiencing distortion (or maybe it’s aliasing) on stacks and layers? Particularly with instruments that contain high frequencies.

… @CliveJ, the distortion emerged from nowhere? Or with a specific version? Have you tried a fresh project? Have you tried another audio device?

Hi Michael,

I’ve actually had the issue over a few releases of v2 but it’s starting to get on my nerves now.

So far I’ve plugged my lead synth directly into the PA and there is no issue. I was suspecting the UMC1820 but I’ve just substituted my X32 and the issue is there as well so I’m afraid that the common denominator is VL and I’m running the latest version 2.0.29

Will try a clean project and get back to you.

Me, no distortion at all, this was sunday, everyone of us is routed to umc1820/adat8200 in, and out to FOH mixer/iem in separate channels!

Ps: project files, audio interface and Windows audio are all on 44.1KHz 24 bit, umc1820 asio buffer on 128 samples (i can run on 64 samples easy in rehersals but i took a bit of safety margin for this gig, did’t want to risk dropouts)

Ok so a new project, single stack, no fx ,no eq and played with all the gains, but I’m still hearing problems. Went back to plugging the synth straight into the PA and the issues are actually in the synth - but on different notes (who’d have thought a semitone could make such a difference and why didn’t I pick that upbefore?) It appears that the UMC or VL are amplifying the issue, which made it more noticable. I’m pretty sure now it’s aliasing, but it’s the keyboard at fault. Doesn’t yet explain why Kontakt is doing the same thing but I guess I’ll have to live with it - or just not play those notes :joy:
