Is there a setting for labeling divisi groups with Roman instead of Arabic numerals? I know how to edit the name in the divisi dialog, I’m just looking for a way to change the default. For string players 1, 2 etc. usually indicates individual players, while I, II etc. marks a division of the section.
And I hope for an automatic “Tutti” instead of “Unis.” after a divisi section involving a solo.
Yes, indeed — under Engraving Options:
(EDIT: I should add, you have to scroll down a bit to get to the setting for section players.)

I meant divisi labels for section instruments.
E.g., Cellos div.:
I
II
As I said, if you scroll down from the single-player Engraving Options section, you’ll see the one where you can set Roman numerals for section players.
The setting that you mention does not affect the divisi labels. If you insert a divisi change and split the group in two, they will be labeled 1. and 2. by default.
Oh, thanks for letting me know, @SugarFree. (Surprising!) Every day’s a school day here on the ol’ forum! I appreciate the lesson.
I’m afraid I’m of no help on this. No doubt another with greater divisi experience will chime in.
EDIT: So, you’re after something like Violin I.I and Violin I.II (formatting it as a text list just for discussion), whereas Dorico shows Violin I.1 and I.2?
Looks like that can be forced as Properties Panel > Custom Text in Engrave Mode for how it appears above the staves. Not (yet) sure if/how that can be done to the staff labels….
Yes, the traditional full notation is “Metá I” and “Metá II”, which means a “half”.
I can change it each time in the Change Divisi window (no need for the Engrave override), it just bugs me that I have to do it manually, instead of setting up in Engraving Options.
Understood. Sounds like something the dev team might consider for the future. Do you have some commercially printed scores you could share small excerpts from as examples. Existing-practice cases are valued in such decision-making processes.
Unfortunately, I don’t. This notation is only needed in strings when a divisi requires separate staves. Having played in the orchestra pit, I’ve never seen it notated with Arabic numerals; those were always reserved for individual players.
