Hi , as a rookie in lights systems, i need “assistance”
I configured in qlc+ my fixtures and i’m thinking about editing all the show on the qlc+ sequencer as the software is more equipped towards easy intuitive and graphical lights programming.
I’ll try to sync vstlive but if i cannot do it i’ll simply import a mixdown of the songs in qlc+ to work here.
When finished, i would like to import the dmx tracks in vstlive to use only vstlive at showtime.
Is it possible to play the finished traks in qlc+ and record the output in vstlive and then fine align the traks ? I can output qlc+ on an artnet output and record it in artnet input in vstlive??
Welll…… its using a given port, travelling through TCP/IP (UDP). The only thing right be something to solve that one network card give exclusivity using a given port to one app only, so
you meight use two computers (e.g.:QLC+ as 1. and VSTL as 2.)
or two network cards (but VL can’t handle network card selection yet)
Maybe using two computers is easier if you can manage it.
I read that you can set qlc+ to output artnet on 127.0.0.1 broadcast (localhost) , this way maybe vstlive will receive artnet on localhost that is seen as part of the active network adapter?? I’ll try and report
Well, with Qlc+ v5 beta 3 i’ve been able to set a dmx track in vstlive output to artnet, then in qlc set an input to artnet:127.0.0.1 an the signal is received correctly.
Then i tried what i really needed, set qlc+ to artnet output 127.0.0.1 , and a dmx track to artnet in … signal is sent but not received by vstlive. If i set a second universe in qlc+ to receive from artnet in 127.0.0.1 it will receive the signal sent by the first universe. So i think the main problem is vstlive should have a IP definition parameter for artnet in and artnet out connections, like in qlc+ artnet settings. I’ll record a video and dhare it when i can … ciao!
This evening i’ll record a video of my trials, i hope i can solve it without vstlive updates but at least the possibility to choose in/out ip addresses (x.x.x.255 is the broadcast one, all other are unicast for the selected netword interface) will be necessary.
Hi Felician, haven’t been able to screen record, but i tested sending artnet from qlc+ on another computer to vstlive on my laptop, it works and record.
So it seems vstlive isn’t able to receive artnet from 127.0.0.1 …
By the way, i tested your dmx projects sending on artnet out to qlcplus just for fun, it works without audio stuttering at 64/128 samples asio buffer.
I’ve been able to use QLC plus 5.0 beta 3 (free and open source!) as 3d visualizer for VSTLive dmx tracks, AND qlc takes care of USB to dmx conversion , so it solves the problem of many usb interfaces still not working on 2.0.22.
